Picturesque locations you don't want to miss from Split to Dubrovnik, Croatia

"The beautiful Dalmatia region we fell in love with"

Dubrovnik - The view from the top of the Minčeta Tower, or for you GOT fans, the top of Kind's Landing

Where to begin with Croatia is a tough one, with too much to write about in a single blog. Let's make it as short as possible and start with the southern Dalmatian region. Amazing beautiful beaches, crystal clear waters, combined with the awesome culture of Dalmatia, makes it one of the most beautiful and funnest countries we have visited.

We headed to Split for our first stop. The town of Split can be explored in a days time but you may want to plan a stay for a few days to catch a boat and explore one of many islands, over a 1,000 islands to be exact through out the Adriatic Sea. Split is home to a beautiful Boardwalk called "The Riva", filled with restaurants, shops, and hotels. Keep walking south along the coast and you will eventually run into Bačvice Beach where the locals hang.

Make sure you make time to grab some good tasting Dalmatian cuisine while visiting the region. A recommendation for an excellent restaurant with ridiculously delicious foods, head to the Konoba Otprilike Ovako. You can get more info from our "EATS" blog. There are plenty of spots to get some good wine. A spot we like is De Vin wine & Deli located right off the water just north of the Riva with great views and incredible wines. You can check out the "DRINKS" blog for more info.

A short 2 hour drive south from Split while first crossing through Bosnia-Herzegovina for a bit then back into Croatia, you will come to the stunning city of Dubrovnik. For you "Game of Throne" fans this is a must visit, with the filming locations that include King's Landing and the Baroque Stairs where the walk of shame would be filmed with many more GOT sites across the town. The old town of Dubrovnik can be seen in a day, but you will want to stay in Dubrovnik for some extra days to not only see the town but enjoy a boat cruise as well to venture more islands and even staying on one of the islands is an option.

The old town can get really busy, especially during the summer and now also even more famous for Game of Thrones filming locations, it will continue to get even busier. We recommend planning ahead and stay in one of many Airbnbs inside the city old walls. Cars can only get so close to the old city as there is no public access to cars or taxis within the old city walls. We stayed in a awesome Airbnb located in the city walls, it was even featured in the game of thrones finale, which was pretty cool!

Croatia is a country with so much to offer, from Zagreb to Dubrovnik, with thousands of islands, gorgeous beaches, and amazing national parks, it is definitely a country you should put on your bullseye to visit one day.
